WEEHAWKEN, N.J.—It was appropriate that the NHL's top draft prospects gathered on the banks of the Hudson River on Friday, the majestic skyline of New York just over their shoulders. These teenagers are within sight of the big time, but still have to cross over from success in the junior ranks to become the pros they always have dreamed of being. That process starts when their names are called from the stage at Prudential Center in Newark on Sunday and they put on NHL teams' sweaters for the first time, for real.
